How to Volunteer

Volunteer opportunities come in all shapes and sizes, just like volunteers. You can do something for an hour a week at your local charity shop or you can volunteer for six months as an RSPB warden, and all kinds of other things in between.  There are lots of ways to get involved in your local community. Before you start looking, remember, voluntary work should be fun!.....which means you, the volunteer, should get as much out of it as the people you are helping.

To get a better idea of what you can do, visit the Do-it national volunteer database web site, where all opportunities registered in your area and others can be accessed simply by entering a postcode.

So, if you have decided volunteering is for you, here's what to do next.....

You can register directly on the Do-it website, or book a personal informal chat with Debbie Hackett - the Volunteer Development Manager at the charity.  Debbie will give you advice and guidance on what volunteer opportunities are available and help you to decide which role is for you.
