Volunteer Programme Co-ordinator, Derbyshire Community Health Services

I met with the Volunteer Manager a couple of months ago. I had just got the post and had very little experience of what it was like to work in the voluntary sector. She was very helpful and supportive and gave me lots of help and guidance in how to get things moving forward. Nothing has been too much trouble and she has continually offered me ongoing support should I need it.

John Wilbraham, Chief Executive, Macclesfield District General Hospital

It is always pleasing to see a scheme such as yours that is really making a difference for a large number of our patients.

We are very grateful for the hard work and commitment given freely from your organisation and we would like to extend our thanks to all the volunteers who give up their time to transport patients to and from Macclesfield District General Hospital.

I was offered some work experience at Voluntary Community Services, Peaks & Dales in Buxton via The Shaw Trust charity as a part-time Receptionist/Administrator. I would highly recommend Volunteering as a stepping-stone back into the world of work. The Team there are all very friendly and I made many new friends and contacts whilst working there. Volunteering is an ideal opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to put something back into the community and help people.

Edna (service user)

Would just like to say thank you to the transport scheme and especially my driver Andrew for taking me to my hospital appointments. He was very friendly, professional and polite and an excellent driver. Many thanks.

Alan, Buxton
I recently used the Handy Van service to check security in my apartment. Whilst the security of access was good my smoke detectors were old and sited in the wrong place. I was most grateful that this excellent service identified a vulnerability and instantly rectified the problem by installing new smoke detectors. I have no hesitation in recommending the service to other householders in Buxton and the surrounding areas.

Manager, Old House Museum, Bakewell

Your Volunteer Manager spent some time with me on writing appealing volunteer role descriptions. This really paid off as we very quickly received enquiries regarding the roles.  We have you to thank for our new recruits and we value the sensible advice enormously. We look forward to a continued partnership with VCSPD.

Amanda (Volunteer)

I volunteer with Summer Club and Thursday club because I enjoy working with children, and this gives me an opportunity to work with children and to try new activities. I get a lot of enjoyment from volunteering and the training has given me new skills.

Mrs S. (service user)

I would like to thank you for your amazing kindness and efficiency, in sending a (volunteer) driver to pick me up from Stepping Hill Hospital on Thursday at such short notice. When I was discharged that morning, I rang you to see if someone could pick me up later in the day. Within an hour you had found a driver and I was back home by 11.30am!

Thank you for your wonderful service.
